Talking about the scale reminded me of an old story. I was still in the service, going to a tech school. First day, had to report in and be weighed/measured. By their written standards, i was 6 pounds over max weight. The office guy told me quietly," look, it's 1500 hours, not the nest time to get weighed, i know. But if you skip dinner tonight and go get in the sauna, come back and see me tomorrow. If you come in at weight, you won't get put on remedial PT." Remedial is ugly and humiliating to a troop. I checkedinto my room, took a healthy one, had a normal-sized dinner instead of my usual pillage, and went to bed. Weighedin the next morning 1/2-pound under, never saw the office geek again. Now, nearing 60,I WISH it was that easy!! I could lose 40 and still be " husky". Having said all that, i enjoyed your podcast once again!

Wonderfully insightful! What i discovered is: food isn't expensive, nutritional value is. Also, finding fitness that doesn't feel 'punishing' -- I've been telling folks for +17 years: riding a bike is the #2 total-body exercise out there (behind swimming); nobody has ever drowned from catching a leg cramp on a bike, so I'll settle for #2. Partially crippled now, still ride 4-5x/week.

Thank you! I am currently struggling with health. Between my MS and type 2 diabetes, and more tests yesterday, I have so much fatigue! I appreciate your thoughts and reminders of ways to self care! Awesome podcast!

“I feel guilty and ashamed if [my body] has needs!” I so feel this! And with Type 1 Diabetes, my body has needs! But there’s always this part of me that feels guilty or like I’m an inconvenience if I have to stop to check my blood sugars or treat a low or a high. But I’m the only one that makes me feel that way. It has nothing to do with the people I’m with.
