I was only 9 when I started my period. Talk about stigmatizing. I was in the 4th grade!

Thank you for being so open, this is all so good to hear. I had to take almost a week off work or school because of mine because I have haemophilia AND anaemia but I was told to stop being a baby and get over it. I’ve been on contraception for 6 years for no reason other than heavy flow, and after my mums just battled breast cancer I’ve only just realised the awfulness of what I was putting myself through just to make other people happy. Now I’m just super open about it 😂

Thank you for being as open as I about the womans body, it's quirkiness, and not having shame for what is a natural process!

You two are so wonderful! I am trying to help my 16 yr old daughter to learn that this is nothing to be ashamed about! She has a split uterus so really struggles with pain!

This was one of my favorite podcasts, I remember the belt and the pad, but with an evil step mom I learned what I needed from school and when she found out I was using tampons in High school she accused me of being a whore or slut.

I to am old enough to remember the belt & pad setup. It was awful! It was right up there with the girdle you had to wear so you could wear stockings since pantyhose hadn't been invented yet. Plus, I did lose my virginity to a tampon!

Can you guys consider having a "part two" to this episode? And talk about how periods and those feelings of shame can effect relationships with boys or men. For instance, I have struggled to not feel shame in a situation where your period is brought on during sex. As well as just the decision to have sex when on your period. Some people say this can be very pleasurable, but I know for me personally, I cant get past the feeling that I am disgusting. As if bleeding is gross and I should be embarrassed. (Which I know is not true, but can't help feeling that way)

Thank you for talking about this. It's long been a topic I grew up understanding as one to be avoided or ashamed of. I learned a few things from you both, and I thank you for it. Love you, ladies!
