It’s funny cause I used to HATE talking about my period but now I will literally bring it up to anyone if given the chance 😂

My mom has endometriosis and it’s a recent discovery. She’s been dealing with it for years and didn’t know. She went and had polyps removed from her uterus to hopefully help. So far so good. I’m so sorry you went through that Kim!

I don’t remember my first period, specifically, other than being sort of excited that “I’m a woman now”. But I do remember my first experience with a tampon. I wore pads for the first couple of years and my mom (opposite of Kim’s mom, apparently) kept pushing the tampon thing. Finally I said “fine, I’ll give it a shot”. My mom explained (kind of) what to do, I think leaving it up to the diagrams on the box. Neither my mom or the diagrams say “remove the applicator”. So. I couldn’t figure out why my mom would say “you won’t even know it’s there,” but I was extremely uncomfortable especially every time I would sit down. Then 2-3 years ago I started using a menstrual cup and that part of my life has totally changed.

You ladies make me so happy. I was 10, and at a family Christmas party. I had to wear a diaper home because it was so heavy. I would pass out from cramps and loss of blood. It was thoroughly traumatizing. I'm still working through it and I'm 47!!! I talk with my kids about their bodies and how they function. My son is 13, and my daughter is 10. I never want them to be afraid or ashamed.

I was in 3rd grade when I started mine. I had no clue what was happening to me and hid it until it was over. Then my mom found the underwear and talked to me about it. My periods were never bad until high school when they got horribly worse and irregular.

I was in 6th grade and one of the last in the “circle of friends”. I put that in quotes because 6th grade was the same year I was the target of a slam book. Maybe that was the reason why, or maybe cause my grandma sewed a lot of my school clothes,
